How Do I Update Asset Types or Change an Asset Type in Aclarian?

What Is Asset Types Management?

Asset Types Management is where your organization defines the categories of assets you track. Examples include buildings, equipment, vehicles, and Construction in Progress.

Each asset type has settings that control how the system handles it. This includes whether the asset is depreciable, whether it is a CIP asset, and whether it is subject to inventory.

What Can I Update Myself?

You can update Asset Types Management on your own using the action button within the Asset Types Management screen. This includes:

• Adding new asset types
• Updating settings on existing asset types

What Cannot Be Changed?

There is one important restriction.

You cannot switch an asset type between depreciable and attractive. Once an asset type is set up as depreciable or attractive, that setting cannot be changed. This is locked to prevent incorrect depreciation calculations.

If you believe your asset type was set up incorrectly, contact Client Support for guidance.

Can I Change an Asset From One Type to Another?

It depends on how the asset was added to the system.

If the asset was added using an Asset Addition Form:
You can edit the form to change the asset type.

If the asset was imported:
There is no Asset Addition Form attached to the asset. You cannot change the asset type yourself in this case. You will need to contact Client Support and we will submit a request to have it updated for you.

What Do I Need to Provide?

If you need an imported asset's type changed, have the following ready when you contact Client Support:

• The name and ID of each asset that needs to be updated
• The current asset type
• The correct asset type it should be changed to

This will help us process your request as quickly as possible.
