How to Break Down Your Annual Budget Into Monthly Expenses

What Is Monthly Budget Forecasting?

Monthly Budget Forecasting is a feature in the Budgeting module. It allows you to break down your annual budget into monthly figures for each account.

This is useful when you want to track how your budget is spread across the year and compare it to your actual spending month by month.

How Do I Access It?

Monthly Budget Forecasting is a separate section in the Budgeting module. It must be enabled for your organization before it will appear.

If you do not see this option in your environment, contact Client Support. We can enable it for you.

How Does It Work?

Once the feature is enabled:

1. Open the Monthly Budget Forecasting section in the Budgeting module
2. Select the fiscal year you want to work with
3. Your budget accounts will appear in the grid
4. Enter your monthly figures for each account

You can also import monthly data using the import button. A template file is available to download and use as a guide.

Can I Import Monthly Data?

Yes. The Monthly Budget Forecasting section includes an import option. Download the template file, fill in your monthly figures, and import the file to populate the grid.

Where Do I See Monthly Figures in Reports?

Once your budget is adopted, monthly forecast columns will appear in the Budget vs. Actual report. These columns are hidden by default.

To see them, unhide the monthly columns in the report. You will then be able to view your monthly budget figures alongside your actual spending for each month.

Important Things to Know

• Monthly figures entered here will not flow back into your budget forms. The data is for forecasting and reporting purposes only.
• The monthly figures are informational. They help you plan and track spending but do not affect your adopted budget.
• If you do not see the Monthly Budget Forecasting option in your environment, contact Client Support to have it enabled.
